Our Annual General Meeting for 2023 occurred on Sunday October 29th at 4:00 PM. This was our first full in-person meeting in several years with about 20 people attending and a few by Zoom. Today’s triathletes are obviously living much cleaner lives because we had a lot of beer left over!

  • Stewart went over the club financials and our fiscal position is solid with a good bank balance.
  • This year’s race managed to turn a modest profit despite significant price increases from some of our major vendors. Things were helped along by a sold-out event, a $6,600 grant from the provincial government and $5,000 savings on our souvenir garment costs.
  • There was strong support from the attendees for  a repeat of Applewood Valley Fondo Tri Peaks team so 2024 members will once again receive a free entry to the fondo. Membership registration will open in late November.
  • Attendees expressed a desire for some additional club kit. We will be bringing in both winter cycling jackets and short-sleeve technical running shirts. All members can purchase club kit items at 50% of cost. Stay tuned for designs.
  • It was suggested that the Annual weekend ride/wine tasting in Penticton be changed to coincide with the Oliver Triathlon in early June. This avoids the Mother’s Day conflict and accommodates members who will be racing there anyway. Details to follow and new wineries to explore!
  • Mick, Peter, Stewart and Susie were all re-elected as club directors.
  • Several members stepped up to take on some additional responsibilities. Steve and Rebecca will be managing the Rob Leviton Memorial Bursary program. Damir will be looking after club kit inventory/ordering. Dave will be taking on club communications and website content updates.
  • There was a general discussion around additional training opportunities – particularly Sunday long runs and open water swims.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 5:15 PM.

A very brief race meeting followed the AGM with a few items on the agenda:

  • Adult race fees will increase by $10/person for 2024 but kid’s fees will remain the same.
  • We will continue with our event socks and medals (same design as last year) but will offer an optional souvenir event shirt at an additional cost.
  • Registration is expected to open in early December.
